Why do we need to repent of sinning, if God is the cause of it?

Repent = with understanding, with perception. God gave man the freedom of choice. Everyman Man chooses to be disobedient .Man is separated from God , until he admits he is a sinner and pleads to God for mercy and asks for salvation. Man has to live with the consequences of the first disobedience.
