Relevance between Quantico, Maryland and Quantico, Virginia?

My boyfriend is in the Marines and he has invested in a home in Maryland. I know there is a Marine Base in Quantico, Virginia. And quantico, Virgina is right on the border. I was thinking maybe the two states share the city? Someone please give me more info.
