What should i look for in a nutritionist?

i want to start seeing a nutritionist but i dont know what to look for as far as certifications, qualifications, background, etc. i would like someone to help me plan meal plans and discuss food and all that stuff...is that within the job of a nutritionist ( the meal planning part) also how much does it generally cost and would that be covered by insurance? thanks for any advice and info u can give me
