How reliable is mazda? what about their resale value?

I had a 91 Protege that I got from my parents. It had 115k miles on it when a drunk hit it. I learned to drive on it and drove it as a teen. I beat the crap out of it. I had to get new brakes at about 85k miles and a new distributor cap at about 100k miles. Still had the original clutch, didn't leak or burn any oil. Only thing I did was change the fluids, filters, belts, and new tires. It was a great car. We also had a Mazda GLC (I think) before that which was a great car too.
